i took a stick of ram out and used a different cdrom and different ide cable i had laying around and was able to format the drive and get the install I could actually get into Safe Mode though. Try to match the new RAM to the existing installed RAM as closely as possible. I'm confused.. If the file is used as part of the system startup process in Safe Mode, you need to start the computer using the Recovery Console in order to access the file.
